Description
3M™ 08883 Rubberized Undercoating (19.7 oz / 560 g) – Black Aerosol
3Mâ„¢ Rubberized Undercoating 08883 is a premium rubberized undercoating that delivers corrosion protection and abrasion resistance while also providing sound deadening to help reduce road noise. It sprays on as a textured black finish designed to resist chipping, abrasion, exterior rusting, and weathering.
Key Benefits
- Anti-corrosive coating helps protect the undercarriage from rust and abrasion.
- Sound deadening properties help reduce road noise for a quieter ride.
- Textured black finish with a medium to coarse texture.
- Designed for one-coat build-up with no dripping, running, or sagging (as described).
- Aerosol spray format for convenient application without additional equipment.
Recommended Applications
- Automotive undercarriages
- Wheel wells
- Inside body panels (e.g., quarter panels)
- Door skins
- Trunks and floor pans
- Also described for areas like interior side of fenders, underside of hood, and trunk lid
Directions for Use
- Remove all rust scale, oil, and grease. Surface must be clean and dry.
- May be applied to bare or primed metal.
- If applying to composite plastic (SMC/FRP) as a sound deadening material, sand the composite surface with a medium grade abrasive prior to applying (to increase adhesion).
- Shake can for at least 60 seconds after the agitator ball moves freely.
- Hold the can 10–12 inches from the surface and apply a uniform coat. Allow to dry 3–5 minutes, then apply a second coat. For hard-to-reach or small areas, use the snorkel tube with spray head (as described).
- After use, clear the valve by inverting can and spray until free of material.
- Note: Car trunks and interior areas require special attention to remove vapors (as described).
